This is the main camp. Rain falls through the "skylight" into a narrow dip that has been withered away over the years. Beds of moss can be gathered to make it more comfortable in this rocky area.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Jaeden Tue Aug 05, 2014 4:01 pm

Jaeden blinks her eyes in the sudden yet wonderful light. She looks up through the hole in the roof to the sunlight and the sky and the trees. I wish I could be up there, She thinks, sighing wistfully. She could recall hazy images from her past of trees and birds and clouds, things that wouldn't be seen except here and The Hole. She lay down in a little moss nest, positioning herself where she could see the clouds and bask in the warmth.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Emph Tue Aug 05, 2014 4:11 pm

The hybrid was mumbling under her breath, tired and bored. Days, she'd been off and about. Days, she'd been completely alone. She felt the ground change a bit, and it felt... hollow. After pausing a few short moments, Emph carried on with her steps. Now the ground became rocky, and this only made her quicken her pace. Unfortunately, the half-blood took a step into nothingness, hurling the rest of her small body into a hole. Confusion is was crossed her face, along with her usual worried expression. Emph furrowed her brows, disoriented and trying to get back onto her feet. It was when the smell of another female wolf finally hit her nose that she more quickly stood. She wasn't showing any likeliness to attack in her body language, just more so to defend herself.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Jaeden Tue Aug 05, 2014 4:17 pm

Jaeden jumped up when she heard something go thump. The hairs on her neck stood up in surprise as what had been a peaceful mood warped into something of fright. Ah, hello? She asked hesitantly, taking a few small steps toward what she now knew as a female wolf. She took in the wolf, the brown-orange color of her pelt, her small build, and her faded eyes. How long has she been in here to have acquired loss of eyesight? She wondered, cocking her head slightly.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Her eyes widened slightly, despite it not helping her see. This female didn't seem like she was one to attack, so Emph let her guard down slightly. She opened her maw to reply, but closed it again and stayed silent. What was another wolf doing in a hole in the ground? Not the most common place to find them. Emph could tell the lupa before her tilted her head. But it was hard to do so, considering how little wind there was down under. The hybrid's face slowly pointed downward, as she was trying to sort some things through her mind. Quickly, she swung it back up to face the other and continued without a word by far.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Jaeden Tue Aug 05, 2014 4:57 pm

Jaeden watched silently as the other female started to speak but changed her mind. Her head cocked further as she looked down and then snapped it back up. She jumped slightly at the sudden movement, although she would not have done so had they met in a darker place where her hearing could be a bit better. She decided to speak, wondering if the female would only trust her if Jaeden gave her name first. I'm Jaeden. Who are you? She asked gently, not wanting to have the other wolf think wrong of her.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Emph Tue Aug 05, 2014 5:07 pm

Emph was close to a wall, as her tail was brushing it slightly. Did she trust this wolf enough with her name? She didn't seem like she had interest in ambushing the hybrid. "Uhm.. My name is Emph," she mumbled, her usual worried tone ringing through. The half-blood mentally slapped herself for the stutter, but she couldn't help it around strangers, which she still considered this female to be. Sure, she knew Jaeden's name now, but that seemed to be all so far.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Jaeden Tue Aug 05, 2014 5:16 pm

Well, hello, Emph. I like your name. Jaeden said, still attempting to be gentle-sounding. It occurred to her that if Emph had only just entered-because Jaeden could smell the recent outside world (unless Emph's been down here for a week or so? I couldn't quite pick that up) on her-then she might know a way out. She could see true sky again, and feel a warm breeze instead of cold drafts! How...How did you get down here? She asked a little too excitedly. Just the very idea of getting out was spirit-lifting!

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Emph Tue Aug 05, 2014 6:05 pm

She sighed somewhat in relief after hearing Jaeden's gentle voice. Emph brought her lips into a slight smile at the complement toward her name, usually others weren't too fond of it. Quickly the smile faded into shock at how excited she sounded about she got here. "You mean to say th-there's no exit?" she stepped back a bit, starting to become a bit scared. How would they get food? Emph could never get used to such little wind, she'd never be able to tell where she was going. The hybrid faced upwards to show the female where she had come from, then slowly let her head fall straight again.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

Post by Jaeden Tue Aug 05, 2014 6:13 pm

Oh, She said quietly, taking a step back in disappointment. She let her head droop before answering the fae's question. I've been here since I was a pup, and I haven't been able to find a way out. This is the only place I know of to find sunlight. Jaeden looked at Emph's worried expression of being lost here forever. Don't worry. This place grows on you, and after you've been here a while, you can just kind of sense the cavern's and tunnels near you, and you can feel the pounding of another being's footstep's. She said this with the confidence of years' worth of experience. She lifted her head a bit as she said it, and realized this was her home now, but she would never give up looking for the surface.

The Skylight Camp Empty Re: The Skylight Camp

The comfort Jaeden was trying to give off didn't help Emph. She was not ready to be stuck underground the rest of her life. "How do you eat?" she didn't stutter this time, as her voice had picked up volume with her concern. Their words echoed off the cave walls. So much that Emph already knew where everything was due to the sound waves. Echolocation in a way. Like a bat. She could tell the size of Jaeden, she could feel every stalagmite growing in the cave. Emph could even tell Jaeden was a lighter color, because of the heat she gave off. Emph had been blind for a while, but her senses nearly doubled in the cave. Still, though, if she were to ever get out, it would be hard to readjust again.

A lot of other animals get stuck down here. I once found a small herd of deer. Jaeden said, hoping this would comfort her. And there are some drinkable water sources I know of.

May I come out Jaeden? Asked Shadow, listening to their quick talk, thinking that there might be a fight.

Jaeden looked over to where her younger half-brother cowered. Oh. He must have heard Emph before I did. Why didn't he warn me? She wondered, taking a moment to think. She shook her head madly to clear it, and then answered him. Yes. Ah, Emph meet my younger half-brother Shadow.

(I have no way to explain how they know they are half-related. I originally planned to have Jaeden remember little of her other life before the cave, but Shade posted what he did. O.o EDIT: I guess the explanation is that their original pack sent Shadow after Jaeden, and Jaeden associated pictures of her past with what Shadow explained to her.)

(ahh, i see c;)

Emph jumped at the second voice. She smelled him a while ago, but refrained from saying anything. Half brother? Interesting. Emph may or may not have half-siblings somewhere out there too. She nodded toward Shadow and blinked. The half-blood shifted her weight a bit. She could slightly recognize the name. Maybe she knew someone in her past with the name? She sat on the cold, flat rock, and her mind was saddened when she realized this would probably be the warmest part of the underground place, what with the sun shining through the hole above them. "So... um, water sources?" she mumbled the question, still unhappy about the "living underground for the rest of your life" situation.

Hmm? Oh, there is a drinkable stream near here, and a pool with special plants or something that eat the poisonous bacteria. Jaeden replies, turning her head towards the tunnel that led to the stream she spoke of. The pond was further off, closer to the stream that don't flow as much as the other. She shuddered as she recalled the wolf body she had once found there beside the water source.

The "everyone jumps" part is, unfortunately, considered god-modding.
>>Warning given to Shadow<<
Please do not do this again in the future.

EDIT: Jaeden sits down and cocks her head again. Are you thirsty, Emph? We can go to the stream I talked about now, if you wish.
